** Example with A291802 V-by-One Signal Module
In order to meet the needs of the highly diverse video signals of today and the future, Chroma has designed a multi-modular display test system that will help customers save production costs and achieve their sustainability goals. The Chroma 2918 FPD Tester can be equipped with up to 4 signal modules and allows users to select the most suitable combination for their specific test scenario.
The instrument provides a power source, signal, individual control pin activation, and timing editing in increments as small as 1ms. The timings of power, signal, control pin output, and shutdown can all be fine-tuned to user requirements.
The intelligent cooling system monitors temperature changes between the mainframe and the modules and automatically adjusts the fan flow rate with PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), reducing workplace noise and maintaining optimal operating temperatures to extend the instrument's service life.
The 2918 mainframe can be outfitted with the 67393-120-480 FPD Tester Power Module with maximum output currents of up to 11A@12V (VDD) and 20A@24V (VBL). The voltage can be adjusted in 0.01V increments, which combined with the stable and continuous output voltage enables you to configure the power supply to suit your own application. It also fully meets the requirements of TV and monitor power usage.
The 2918 features highly convenient design for quick and easy installation. The mainframe's guide rails adopt a two-stage design with a wide front and narrow rear, and the module installation side is outfitted with a guide mechanism that enables users to effortlessly slide the signal module into the correct position through the guide rail.
Chroma 2918 provides OVP (Over Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), and UCP (Under Current Protection). You can set your own protection parameters; if the current or voltage of the DUT is detected to exceed the set value during the output process, the protection mechanism will be activated immediately to avoid product damage.
The Protection Time Delay function ensures test accuracy by preventing the inrush current generated by the DUT’s power supply from triggering the protection mechanism.
The main unit and modules of the 2918 adopt high-precision military-grade connectors (DIN), which ensure high-speed synchronous transmission characteristics as well as robust and durable machinery.
The 2918 FPD Tester offers a range of interchangeable signal modules, including LVDS, V-by-One, eDP, and others, each with its own discrete high-speed graphics processing unit. This allows users to choose the modules that best suit their specific applications. The 2918 mainframe also supports Augmented Analytics, providing even greater flexibility and functionality. This separate power module design extends the equipment's service life and reduces the cost of replacing old equipment, while ensuring its usability for future video signals.
The 2918 mainframe and the 67393-120-480 power module adopt a separate design, isolating their heat sources and electromagnetic interference (EMI) and allowing updating or replacement according to users' future power requirements.
When conducting a series of tests, test accuracy is often affected by voltage drops in the power transmission caused by cables, connectors, and distance. To mitigate this, the 2918 is equipped with a Remote Sense function that can automatically adjust the output to harmonize the difference between the actual test voltage and the set voltage.
Through Interlock Sync, two 2918 mainframes can be connected to achieve synchronized output of 8 signal modules, extending their range and supporting higher resolution test requirements such as V-by-one interface applications. This feature can support up to 128 lanes of signal transmission at 16K QUHD (Quad Ultra High Definition) @60Hz. The FPD Master software can be used to synchronize control of the two units (Master/Slave) and set their signal output parameters.
Users can connect their PC or the A040206 Remote Control Box to the Chroma 2918 mainframe, and can update the firmware and image files through the USB port.
The indicator lights on the 2918 dashboard provide users with a quick and easy way to understand the status of the tester, the device under test (DUT), and the test process in real-time.
When used in production testing with computers in the production line, customized GO/NOGO software can be used to provide managers with the ability to pre-set operator permissions, unify system management, and reduce human error. (optional)
The FPD Master software comes with a Timing Wizard feature that allows users to set standard timing parameters or define their own horizontal and vertical timing parameters. The software can automatically calculate the pixel rate, set the color depth, and adjust the Hsync and Vsync polarity of the display to meet a wide range of testing needs.
The FPD Master software comes equipped with 9 types of test patterns, including Bitmap, Color Bar, Gray Scale, Outer Frame, CABC, Character, Horizontal Stripe, Check Board, and Multi Pixel. You can combine and edit the presentation and color of each test pattern to create a wide variety of images for testing.
The Chroma 2918 mainframe has a pre-installed library of 4K and Full-HD image files for resolution, RGB, contrast correction, algorithm verification, True Color change, panel convergence, and other output tests, providing a wide range of images for comprehensive high-resolution testing.
During production, display panels can develop significant pixel defects as well as bright or dark spots brought on by contaminants like dust, scratches, and other impurities. The 2918 combines GO/NOGO software with the Cursor Position function, which allows you to pinpoint the exact physical coordinates of single pixels/dots and RGB color vector coordinates on the DUT's own display, and record the corresponding coordinate data for laser repair machine positioning and restoration.
Licensed by The Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers, a wide range of 8K High Resolution color gamut test patterns are available. (optional)
The 2918 can be operated with the A040206 Remote Controller, which provides an on/off button for signal and power, a control knob for quick switching between functions and adjusting the grayscale gradient, and real-time voltage/current display on a 20x4 LCD screen. (optional)
The 2918 PFD Test can be outfitted with the 67393-120-480 power module to provide highly stable and reliable AC to DC power, low output voltage, minimal current harmonics, and self-diagnosis of fault conditions, providing a complete spectrum of test signals for a wide range of current and future display panel test applications.
